Requires a genuine 5-year live NAV track record — schemes that stopped reporting (e.g. after an AMC merger) are excluded, not just old ones. Sharpe uses a 6.5% risk-free rate. AUM and expense ratio are not in this dataset — a fund ranking well here could still have poor liquidity or high cost; that needs a separate check before acting on rank alone.
Known distortion — read before trusting the Banking category ranks: several newer Bank Nifty ETFs (UTI, HDFC) rank above BANKBEES here purely because their track record starts after the March 2020 COVID crash — they were never tested by it. Compared over the identical time window, BANKBEES performs identically (CAGR 18.87% vs 19.30% vs 18.92%, MaxDD -16.96% for all three). Longer-lived funds generally look artificially worse in any raw rank — treat within-category rank as a starting point, not a final verdict.
